Reflections on EdTech, UK and Europe

Well, Katya (COO) and I have just returned from a 10 week tour of duty in Europe where we set up an office in Thinclab incubator, France, as the Opentute gateway to the EU and UK (post Brexit).

After some exciting discussions with Universities and Accelerators as potential clients in London, I was off to Belgium and then was fortunate to meet with UNESCO at the UN to discuss how we might be able to work together to support their global education projects.

Apart from some great meetings with potential clients in France, Germany and England, I was honoured to present at EdTechXEurope, an event that brought together thought leaders from all around the world. Notably, Marc Lopez (HEAD OF GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION – SOUTH OF EUROPE) spoke on the important of collaborative learning tools, presenting a slide deck much aligned to the beliefs around the future of work and learning that we hold at Opentute – learning is lifelong, social and we learn better together.

Next, we were off to the UIIN, thanks to the ongoing support and generosity of The University of Adelaide and Thinclab. The big topics centered around how business can collaborate with Universities, often around research-based outputs or access to facilities and where the IP sits in such arrangements.

Meanwhile, we continued our output at a frantic pace, launching our Opentute app for all license holders, commencing an Android version and deploying front website features and an array of tools to improve stickiness for socialised learning in a range of implementations.
